Egg Drop!

On Friday, we were treated to such warm weather.  It was a perfect morning to do an egg drop.  The kids worked with a partner or two to design a container that would protect a raw egg when it was dropped from a ladder (spotted by me for safety).    They were all given the same materials.  We had many different styles of containers.  It was a great lesson in team work and critical thinking.  We ended up with lots of smashed eggs this year, but we enjoyed the challenge.  The kids did a nice job supporting each other when we got outside.  Here are some shots from this event.

Valentine's Flashback Photos and Some St.Patty's Fun

I realized I had not posted the super cute pictures of the kids with their mustache Valentines from Mrs. Fisher.  We had fun with those.  That Mrs. Fisher is a very clever lady.

Moving on to other more recent holidays. . .   We read the book That's What Leprechauns Do by Eve Bunting on Friday to introduce the idea of leprechauns.  A number of the kids knew about them.  The kids collectively built a trap to try and snare the little guy.  When I visited the classroom today, I noticed he had spilled green paint,  left some footprints here and there, and turned a number of posters upside-down.  We did not catch him, but I am hopeful that he left the kids some chocolate coins like last year.    Here is our trap.   We decided to leave a glittery green purse with fake money in it to lure him in.  One of my little guys really wanted me to leave my wedding ring, but I decided against it.  Ha Ha!

Scenes from Dr. Seuss Week

Whoa!  Sorry that I haven't been keeping up on the blog.  I am going to renew my efforts.  Here are some pictures from Wacky Wednesday, Hat Day, Red and White Day, and the two gentlemen who celebrated birthdays this week.  There is also a link down below of a song version of Apples Up on Top.  It's a pretty cool version.  It's a Youtube video so be sure to supervise your little one if you check this out at home.
